The Cayetano Gomez Felipe Museum, in coordination with the Department of Historical Heritage of the Municipality of La Laguna, presented this morning at a press conference, its program of activities to promote and disseminate the year 2020, motivated by the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the declaration of La Laguna as a World Heritage City by UNESCO.
The Councillor for Historical Heritage of the City of La Laguna, Elvira Jorge, thanked the promoter of the Museum that “has initiated a line of collaboration between both institutions, although we would like it to be a permanent line of work.
For her part, the curator and manager of the Cayetano Gómez Felipe Museum, Milagros Álvarez, stated that “we have designed a series of activities to be carried out throughout the year, whose main objective is to disseminate our heritage”.
Elvira Jorge and the promoter of the Cayetano Gómez Felipe Museum, María Remedios Gómez, have proposed to carry out informative activities to enhance the legacy of this new museum institution in the context of the historical site of the lagoon.
The initiatives include open days on seven emblematic dates of the year; an educational workshop for schoolchildren in the municipality, entitled: “The Canarian house and what the objects say about us”; and a temporary exhibition called, “Images in the air: the fan. Use, form and code.”
The programmed activities will continue, successively, throughout the year; but they will be launched on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The first of the open days of the Museum will take place on 14 March instead of the 8th. Access will be free, from 10:00 to 19:00 hours, although, for security reasons, the number of attendees will be limited to the permitted capacity.
