The City Council of La Laguna, through the Department of Historical Heritage directed by Elvira Jorge, launches from March 7 the heritage activity ‘Adventure in La Laguna. Happy 2020’, a project aimed at families with children between 6 and 12 years that allows to bring the heritage and history of the city to the youngest in a fun and participatory.

The initiative was presented this Monday by the Councillor for Historical Heritage, Elvira Jorge, and the interpreters Antonio Conejo and Marrero, from the company Localiando. The Councillor said that these routes “will be eminently interactive, with content that has been prepared with significant scientific and historical rigour. It will also be an inclusive activity, giving priority to those families who are responsible for a child with a disability”.

A total of 20 free routes will be offered with a limited number of participants, and will take place between 7 March and 19 April, on Saturdays and Sundays in the morning and afternoon (except on 22 March and 11 and 12 April). The routes will cover a series of heritage and historical landmarks in the city such as the Plaza del Adelantado, the old Calle de La Carrera or the Plaza de la Junta Suprema de Canarias, among others, where local stories, legends and anecdotes will be told by professionals from the world of oral narration and theatre. The participating children will not only have the opportunity to listen to these stories, but they will also take part in the activity, unraveling small enigmas that will lead them to the next step of the route. In this way, with games and songs, the contents chosen (either for their historical rigour or for their belonging to popular tradition) will be more easily assimilated by the participants.

The activity is part of the awareness, promotion and dissemination for the enhancement of the heritage of the historical site that the City of La Laguna developed as part of the responsibilities inherent in the dissemination of World Heritage cities.

Adventure in La Laguna. Happy 2020′ is part of the broad program of actions aimed at various audiences that are carried out throughout 2020, within the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of La Laguna on the list of World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
