The City Council encourages schools to participate in the Heritage Cities educational programme
The Heritage Classroom programme is aimed at students in the first cycle of Secondary Education in public and subsidised schools.
The City Council of La Laguna, through the departments of Education and Historical Heritage, encourages schools in the municipality to take part in the educational program Aula de Patrimonio, promoted by the Group of World Heritage Cities during the academic year 2019-2020.
This program, which is now in its seventh year and which in previous editions has had the participation of nearly 9,000 students, aims to enable students who live and study in any of the fifteen Heritage Cities to learn to know and appreciate not only their own city but also the rest of the towns that hold the same title awarded by UNESCO. In addition, the aim is to make students aware of the importance of living in a World Heritage City, and to encourage an attitude of active citizenship, promoting knowledge and enjoyment of urban heritage.
The programme is aimed at groups of schoolchildren in the first cycle of Secondary Education, from both public and subsidised educational centres, in the cities that make up the World Heritage Cities Group in Spain. Schools interested in participating must register before 15 March 2020 using the form available on the website www.ciudadespatrimonio.org.
The work should focus on good practices in the conservation and dissemination of World Heritage in any of the 15 cities in the Group, especially on how students believe that they should care for and protect themselves and how they should make these heritage properties known.
